Nicholas (Nick) Merrill is the Accounting Division Manager of the State Employees’ Retirement System of Illinois (SERS). He began his career working for a national CPA firm in 1979, becoming an Audit Manager in 1983. He accepted the position of Accounting Division Manager with SERS in December 1985. In 1988, he also became the manager of the SERS Social Security Division (SSD). As the SSD Manager, Nick has been involved in the administration of the Section 218 program for the State of Illinois, and has overseen a number of referenda involving elections for Social Security and also Medicare-only coverage. Nick has served in a number of capacities within the National Conference of State Social Security Administrators (NCSSSA), including President from 1991-1993 and several terms as Regional Vice-President. He has also chaired many of the committees for the organization. |
