Preston B. Benoit was named deputy director of the IRS Return Preparer Office in May 2011. As deputy director, Benoit helps direct the IRS’s oversight program of the tax professional industry. Benoit is a graduate of Keene State College in New Hampshire. An Army veteran, he later graduated with an accounting degree from Franklin Pierce College and a master’s degree in business education from New Hampshire College. He originally joined the IRS in 1987 as a tax examiner. In 1990, he moved to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration. He returned to the IRS in 2010, serving in the Small Business/Self-Employed Division. |
